Undress Sabretache 1849 and c1890

The plain black leather undress sabretache was worn in undress uniform from 1849 when the regiment was re-titled Earl of Chester’s. The badge in the middle was also worn on the shako which was discontinued in 1863. This and the dress sabretache were discontinued in 1856 when the uniform was changed. But the undress pattern was revived c1890 and worn with dress uniform.
