Sabretache Slings c1850

This close-up of the ends of the sabretache slings shows the lion-face buckles which would allow the slings to be shortened, although there are no holes to make this easy. The buckle has a short piece of morocco leather which loops through the D-shaped rings on the top of the sabretache, and secures with a press stud. The slim-width silver lace is of Broken Bias pattern. Sabretaches were discontinued in 1856 when the Cheshire Yeomanry changed their uniform to a frogged tunic.
