Officers in South Africa

Officers of the 2nd Battalion East Surreys taking it easy before the start of hard campaigning on the South African veldt. A servant stands at the back in a rather shapeless khaki drill uniform while the officers enjoy drinks. At least two of them wear leather gaiters and spurs, and they all have Sam Browne belts with two shoulder straps that cross over on their backs.
