A King’s Dragoon Guard

This KDG trooper of 1751 has the appearance of a dragoon. He holds a musket and has a bayonet in a scabbard just above his sword. Regiments of Horse slung the sword on a belt over the right shoulder but dragoons had a waist-belt for sword and bayonet, worn under the coat. The ammunition pouch-belt was worn on the left shoulder as before, but the flask cord was removed. The white knee covers were worn by all the cavalry to protect the breeches from wearing out. They were to appear no more than three inches above the jackboots.
