Schellenberg

This contemporary depiction of the Battle of Schellenberg portrays The Duke of Marlborough in the foreground with a staff officer. The Duke looks young but was 54 at the time. The cavalry is shown moving towards the fortified hill. The 14 battalions of infantry were drawn up in four lines, the seven regiments of cavalry formed two lines behind them. The cavalry lines can be seen starting to form on the right flank. This reproduction is borrowed from Wikipedia which describes it as a tapestry. Whether it is one of the tapestries on the walls of Blenheim Palace is unclear. The Duke is shown wearing buttoned leggings or gaiters similar to the nether-wear worn in the other tapestries at Blenheim Palace.
