Middlesex Duke of Cambridge’s Hussars, Yeomanry Cavalry

RSM, Review Order c1894

The same man who was photographed in drill order is seen here in his dress uniform of green tunic faced with black velvet, and, befitting his senior NCO rank, braided with gold cord. There are 5 rows of cord across the chest with caps and drops, and olivet buttons. Comparing the tunic with the warrant officers in the 1890 photo shows the stripes on his right sleeve to be above the Austrian knot rather than the knot being overlaid on the stripes. His breeches are blue with double red stripes although in this photo the stripes are more distinct, probably catching the light. His fur busby has a green bag with gold braid and a gold button. The cap lines are gold and he has a rank and file green over red upright horsehair plume. The saddle is covered with a black sheepskin in review order.
