Middlesex Duke of Cambridge’s Hussars, Yeomanry Cavalry

Officer’s Mess Kit c1900

The mess jacket was the same pattern as the stable jacket which can be seen in the illustration of Officers 1890, but worn open with a smart scarlet waistcoat showing underneath. This colour photo shows the green jacket with black velvet facings decorated with gold lace and braid, but nothing on the shoulders. The photos below show a slightly different version which has gold olivets down one side, and gold shoulder cords. The back view has ornate gold lace and braid following the seams. This jacket and waistcoat were worn with dark green overalls that had double gold stripes down the side. Ankle boots and spurs were worn.
