Middlesex Duke of Cambridge’s Hussars, Yeomanry Cavalry

Helmet Badge 1855

This gilt badge was the first use of the eight-pointed star in the regiment. Up until 1855 they wore shakos with a standard light dragoon Maltese Cross but when the helmet was introduced in 1855 they had this badge on the front. The other ranks had a brass badge but officers had this gilt type. The title of the regiment was UXBRIDGE YEOMANRY until 1871.
