Middlesex Duke of Cambridge’s Hussars, Yeomanry Cavalry

Drumhorse c1890

This drawing of the Middlesex Hussars drumhorse is by A Roberson who served in the regiment. In 1890 he was a sergeant in A Troop and painted the four groups in our Uniforms section for a booklet published in 1891. The drum banner is dark green with gold lace, fringes and embroidery. The horse is a grey and has a green over red throat-plume. The drummer is in review order with green tunic faced with black velvet and braided with yellow cord. His fur busby has a green bag on the right side and a green over red upright plume.
