Middlesex Duke of Cambridge’s Hussars, Yeomanry Cavalry

Band March Past, 1965

Staff Sergeant R L Miller, the Drum Major of the 47th Signals Regiment (Middlesex Yeomanry) band marches past and salutes a dignitary. Behind him is the same small boy in uniform who was in the park photo. This is clearly a different occasion as the Drum Major is wearing a white waist-belt and sword slings (not in the other photo). Behind the boy is an officer in a frockcoat, probably the Bandmaster. The bandsmen in this photo appear to have gold stripes on their trousers like those in front of them. In the park photo they had red stripes. The sergeant standing on the lowest step, in the historical dress uniform probably has red stripes on his trousers. His tunic is incorrect in having six rows of yellow cord across his chest instead of five. He also has an officer style feather plume on his busby instead of the short horsehair plume worn by other ranks.
