Middlesex Duke of Cambridge’s Hussars, Yeomanry Cavalry

Pouch Badge

The eight-pointed star was first adopted as the badge of the Middlesex Yeomanry in 1855 when helmets were introduced. This example is a white metal badge worn on the black leather pouches by other ranks. The cypher in the middle is VR for Queen Victoria and the circle has the motto PRO ARIS ET FOCIS. Above the star is a Victorian crown.
