Redan Massy

Massy wears an undress General officer’s frockcoat. The white helmet indicates that the photo was taken on foreign service, probably India or Ceylon. This was either to mark his promotion to major-general in 1886 or his appointment as GOC Ceylon, in 1888. He has two medals for the Crimean War, one with a clasp for SEBASTOPOL. The larger one in the middle is the French Legion of Honour.
