Rocket Troop 1836

The third print of the Horse Artillery by Heath shows the Rocket Troop in action. The four horses with their two drivers draw a limber and carriage which carries the rocket launcher. They are all in review order, the shakos having white plumes in place. The figures that we see in the foreground are one division, having two rockets and two officers commanding each sub-division. Another division in the background rides over the hill. Just in front of the officer is a gunner with three horses. He has long sticks behind his back which are part of the rocket equipment. These are also to be seen on the Hamilton Smith print of 1814.
