Captain George O’Neill Segrave

George O’Neill Segrave was from a distinguished Irish family. He was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the 108th (Madras) Regiment on 13 Nov 1878 but transferred a few weeks later, on 4 Dec, to the 19th Regiment. Less than a year later he was promoted to lieutenant, on 28 July 1879. He was a captain on 9 Sep 1885 when this photo was taken. It is reproduced from Regiment magazine in which the caption says that he is wearing the regimental pattern green Torin cap. Captain Segrave left the army in 1889.
