A View of Nevis

This 1790 Nicholas Pocock picture shows Royal Navy Ships at anchor during one of the few periods of peace in the Caribbean. Royal Naval ships knew that the Caribbean was always going to be a major theatre of operations and so tasked ships and personnel to familiarise themselves with the treacherous islands and currents of the area.
