| Alejandro Malaspina was an Italian in the service of the Spanish government. He undertook an ambitious expedition to explore and map much of the Pacific Ocean from 1789 to 1794. On his way back to Europe he stopped off at the Maluinas in order to conduct an extensive survey of the islands. |
