French Map of Falkland Islands, 1862

This is a French map from 1862. It is a very general map which does not show any settlements on it. They use the French vocabulary and so have given the French name of the Malouines as an alternate to the Falkland Islands. It is interesting that the French names for the two islands use the more arcane versions of the latinate names in French for East and West; Orient and Occident.
