George Rennie


On 15 December 1847, George Rennie was appointed governor of the Falkland Islands. Throughout the eight years he held that position Rennie was acclaimed for his diplomatic skills and the success he brought to the economic development of the islands. He was instrumental in setting up the Falkland Islands Company and allowing it to gain a Royal Charter. Rennie returned to England in 1855.
