The British at Home, 1881

This picture shows a quintessential scene for the British Raj with servants at the beck and call of the family. A tired father relaxes with his children. A tigerskin shows off the hunting prowess and an Ayah is taking care of the very youngest child on behalf of the mother. It shows a life of privilege for the British, but it does not show the downsides of life for an imperial family.
