Vulcan Flying Over Tanganyika's Independence Day Celebrations

"As the military marched off there was a short pause, followed by a distant low rumble. All eyes turned skywards and our of the deepening dusk, six jet fighters in perfect formation flew over the stadium. A pause and then we could see the bat-like configuration of a huge delta wing bomber. Coming in extremely low over the field with its Olympus turbojets at full power, the Vulcan made a magnificent sight. With a deep-throated roar and its four exhausts glowing eerily, it passed overhead, banked to the right and set off on its return flight to Nairobi Its timing was impeccable, a most impressive spectacle."
