Pom Pom gun, 1899


This is a heavier and more powerful version of the Maxim Gun. This gun saw service in the Boer war and was used up until The Great War. It could automatically fire 1.457in, 1lb shells a distance of upto 4500 yards. This particular picture is of a World War I version of the gun on a high angle field carriage.
