This equestrian portrait of an unknown officer shows the red pelisse worn during the reign of William IV. The unwieldy shako can be seen here with the cap-lines hanging from the right side (see Shako c1835). The horse furniture is very distinctive for the 7th, having scarlet vandykes edged in gold russia braid and the Queen's Own cypher below a guelphic crown.
