5th Gurkhas

Summer Dress, 1882

The colour of the khaki drill jacket is not certain, it may have been slatey grey as used by the 2nd Gurkhas. There are officers seated in the middle with black pouch belts. The rest all seem to be NCOs, some wearing equipment, others not. The rifles are percussion muskets which had been replaced in the British army by this time, with the Martini-Henry.
