11th Bengal Lancers (Probyn's Horse)

British Officers, 1860

The 1st Sikh Regiment were described while on campaign in China as wearing dark blue uniforms and blue turbans. These officers seem to be dressed similarly to each other but on closer inspection we can see that two of them are wearing white breeches and Napoleon boots and the other two wear overalls. The man seated in the middle wears a blue kurta and the others all have undress frocks. The pouchbelts are plain undress types clearly showing the Maltese cross plate and not-so-clear picker plate. Only two gauntlets are on show.
