Lieutenant c1905

The dark green tunic is well covered with gold cord, 5 strands to each of the six rows. At the end of each row is a large Austrian knot design. After 1903 when the regiment became the 25th, the different collar and cuff decoration for the officer ranks was simplified to a plain Austrian knot for all ranks, on the red cuff. The only way rank was shown was by the badges on the gold shoulder cords. The sabretache is no longer worn but the mameluke sword can just be seen. The most obvious change to the old uniform was the adoption of the white helmet in place of the green helmet with red and green plume. Some photos show the white helmet with a coloured striped pagri.
