Daffadar 1910

In the Indian cavalry the ranks had different titles to the British regiments. Privates or troopers were called sowars, corporals were called lance-daffadar, sergeants were daffadars and troop sergeant-majors were kot daffadars. This daffadar has a badge above his gold stripes which may be a spur, denoting rough-rider. His green kurta has red stripes down the middle which agrees with the picture of the camel sowar. His turban is red and black striped and he has a brown leather Sam Browne belt to support his sword.
