Lt-Col Henry Shrapnel, 1817

The famous inventor of the exploding shell. He was a Lieutenant-Colonel at the time of this painting in 1817. His coat is rather old fashioned for the time. As a senior officer he has an epaulette on each shoulder unlike the Officer's Coat 1815. He reached the rank of Lieutenant-General and died 13th March 1842.
