This illustration is by Olaf MacLeod from his book Their Glory Shall Not Be Blotted Out (Lutterworth Press 1986). The uniform for this horn player in review order is: brass helmet with musician's red plume, scarlet tunic with green velvet collar, cuffs, shoulder straps and piping down the front edge. His white leather waist-belt has sword slings which are linked together, and his pouch-belt has a white pouch on the back to keep sheet music. His trousers are blue with a yellow cloth stripe, worn in dismounted review order. The yellow cord aiguillettes on his left shoulder were worn only by musicians and trumpeters. |
