| The light dragoon Troop of the 7th Queen's Own was made up of men who were 'light and active' mounted on smaller horses of about 15 hands. Their caps were made of strong black jacked leather with an upright plate at the front and a brass crest on top. Coats were red and the pouch-belt was tanned leather. Their carbines were 4ft 3ins long and they were armed with a 34 inch sword and 17 inch bayonet. A pistol was carried in a holster on the front of the saddle. |
