The light dragoon helmet had a silver badge on the right side at around the turn of the 18th century. 'This drawing is a copy of a sketch in Hawkes' Pattern Book dated 1803. 'It was 2 inches wide and 3.75 inches tall. A portrait of Captain Charles Taylor dated before 1800 shows his helmet and his badge very clearly. 'The badge matches this drawing with it's distinctive CR reverse cypher. 'It was not until the 1830s that the regiment changed to a QO cypher. |
