Trumpeters 1910

The 8th Hussars served in India from 1909 until they went to France in 1914. The dress uniform was adapted by exchanging the fur busby for a white Wolseley helmet which was stipulated for the whole army serving in hot climates from around 1904. For the cavalry a brass spike was fixed to the top. These trumpeters, commanded by the trumpet-major on the left, with two Boer War medals, are mounted on grey horses and carry swords fixed to their saddles. The Delhi Durbar was held in December 1911 and these ten trumpeters would have added to the spectacle.
