Officer's Shako Badge 1869-78

The gilt badge worn on the 1869 shako was, like the previous two patterns, very plain, having no Sphinx or Chinese Dragon. The shako was replaced by the blue cloth-covered helmet in 1878, which lasted until 1881 when the regiment was converted to a rifle regiment. They continued with the helmet, albeit green covered, then reverted to the shako in 1892.
