| Lord Cavan became a Major-General in 1772 and a Lieutenant-General in 1777. He was appointed Colonel of the 55th Foot on 3rd August 1774 and on the 7th Sept 1775 he left to take up an appointment as Colonel of the 15th Foot until his death on 2nd Nov 1778. |
