Brig-Gen Archibald Douglas, 2nd Earl of Forfar


Archibald Douglas was born on 25th May 1692 the son of the 1st Earl of Forfar. He was Lord Wandell until 1712 when he inherited the title. He was appointed Colonel of Prince George of Denmark's regiment (The Buffs) on 14th April 1714 when he was 22 years old. He served in Argyll's army against the Jacobites in 1715 and was wounded at Sheriffmuir. His multiple wounds proved fatal and he died as a prisoner at Stirling Castle on 8th Dec 1715 and was buried at Bothwell Church.
