Private Albert Halton VC

On 12th Oct 1917, near Poelcapelle in Belgium, after the objective had been reached, Private Halton, aged 24, rushed forward about 300 yards under very heavy fire and captured a machine-gun and it's crew which was causing heavy losses to his comrades in the 1st Battalion, The King's Own. He then went out again and brought in 12 prisoners showing the greatest disregard for his own safety and setting a fine example to those around him.

Albert Halton was born at Warton, Carnforth in Lancashire on 1st May 1893. He died in Lancaster on 24th July 1971, aged 78.
