Bombardment of Martaban


The hills of Martaban were defended by a wall of upright logs that was 800 yards long and 15 foot high. The naval ships bombarded the place before the right wing of the 18th and part of the 80th Regiment assaulted the fortification. This engraving was published in the Illustrated London News on 24th July 1852.
