The Warwickshire Regiment

Cap Badge

The antelope has been the badge of the 6th Foot since very early times. At the battle of Saragossa in 1710 the regiment captured the standard of a Moorish regiment that had an antelope image on it. The colonel of the regiment, Thomas Harrison, was given the honour of returning to England with the despatches and captured standards. The connection of the antelope with the regiment may well have it's origins there. The regiment was linked with Warwickshire in 1782 and the title Royal was conferred in 1832.
