Lieutenant-Colonel E H Cole


Edward Cole came to the regiment in 1889 after serving in the infantry. He had seen service in Burma in 1886-7 and gained further experience in Probyns on the North-West Frontier in 1891 and Chitral 1895. He was at Malakand and Mohmand and served with General Bindon Blood who mentioned him in glowing terms in despatches. In the picture he has two Indian General Service medals and a China Medal. His uniform is the blue kurta with red collar, highly decorated with gold embroidery, lace and braid. The turban is blue and gold.
