Brief History
The first post-Mutiny 43rd Bengal Native Infantry was formed from the 2nd Assam Light Infantry, raised in 1861. They changed to the 43rd Gurkhas who became 7th Gurkha Rifles in 1903.

An Erinpoorah Irregular Force was raised at Erinpura in 1860 by Lt-Col J F W Hall consisting of cavalry as well as infantry. After 1903 they were an infantry regiment only and a second battalion was raised in 1917 but they were both disbanded on 15th October 1921.
