| This advertisement for Austin Motors in Malaya and Borneo illustrates how trade and exports went very much hand in hand with the colonial economy. The cars were not particularly well suited for the harsh conditions of much of Malaya at the time, but the privileged access and trade routes of the Empire provided a market and opportunities nonetheless. |
