P.A.B. McKerron (1896 - 1964)


Brigadier McKerron was born in 1896. After serving in the army in World War I, he joined the Straits Settlements Civil Service as a cadet in 1920. After his escape from Singapore in 1942 he served in Ceylon and elsewhere before returning to Singapore as Deputy Chief Civil Affairs Officer after the Japanese surrender in 1945 (with the rank of Brigadier). From 1946 until his retirement in 1950 he was Colonial Secretary, Singapore. He was awarded the KBE in that year. He died in 1964.
