A Child's War by Douglas Witchell

Devonport Dockyards 1941

This photograph was actually taken from HMS Impregnable a training establishment near St. Budeaux. It is looking at the dockyards from the North. As this was the height of the blitz there were few ships moored for any length of time. The focus to refuel, resupply and repair just as fast as possible and get the ships back out into active service as soon as was practicable. Image Courtesy of Imperial War Museum
