The British Empire and its effect on Plymouth

Canadian Soldiers in Plymouth

This photograph shows Canadian soldiers arriving in Plymouth. A large force of Canadians was landed at Plymouth late 1914 due to suspected U-boat activity in the Channel. Their uniform is very similar to the British early war uniform. One of the Canadian units put ashore was the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry.
