Tales of Colonial Policeman in Northern Rhodesia

Ritual Murder Investigation

This is another interesting little event which I had to investigate. A case of suspected ritual murder.. It was in the rainy season and the only way we could get to the village it was alleged to have occurred in was by boat. We used the boat in the photo below, which was owned by a Police reservist Don Steele, he of the garage where I shot the spitting cobra. He is the one in front with the tash & .303, the guy with the Greener behind & to the right is another Reserve A/I , ex RN. The informant is behind him with an African CID man to his left. I am on the right of the boat with a camo jacket I had acquired from a Mercenary. The other A/I at the back was a recent arrival to Bancroft.
