Tales of Colonial Policeman in Northern Rhodesia

Chingola Central Police Station

This is my shift at Chingola late 1961. I'm in the middle between the 2 Sergeants. in normal working dress note I've got 2 Asst/inspectors and 2 sergeants! The land rover is equipped with wire mesh screens to stop any missiles that might be thrown at us in a disturbance, the slits are to allow the use of firearms from within the vehicle — Outside the front of Chingola Central police station.

The short guy on my right is the chap who I refer to as Pringle in the main text. This is not his real name as he is the one that got back squaded and later was asked to resign.
