Tales of Colonial Policeman in Northern Rhodesia

Bancroft Police Station

This is my shift at Bancroft in early to mid 1963. They are ready to go on evening patrol, hence the blue jerseys & not grey shirts! The lads with riot shields, steel helmets as well as long batons are my car crew, picked for their toughness! — at the back of Bancroft police station, now "chirila Bomwe" in what was N. Rhodesia now Zambia. The sergeant is Sgt. Mwase who I owe my life to as explain in the main text.
