Roy Welensky


Roy Welensky was the Premier of the ill-fated and short-lived Central African Federation. He had hoped that it would evolve into the 'eighth Dominion' but divisions between white settlers and black Africans plagued the experiment from day one. This particular picture is from 1959 when he visited Whitehall to discuss one of the many crises that affected his premiership.
