Reverend John Henry Budden spent most of his adult life working as a missionary in Almora, Uttar Pradesh. Indeed the church there was renamed in his dedication after his death in 1890. The Budden family worked in the Almora/Pithoragarh area for over 80 years, first under the direction of the London Missionary Society, and later as part of the American Methodist Missions. They founded several schools, medical dispensaries, and missionary hill stations (including ones at Pithoragarh and Champawat, near the Nepali border). There is a more detailed account of John Henry Budden and families work in this Missionary Work in Northern India Article.
