Battle of El Teb

Norie’s wonderful painting of the battle of El Teb shows the 10th Hussars and Mahdist tribesmen hotly engaged in a pitched battle, with the infantry silhouetted in the middle distance. The hussar troopers are identified by their crossed white straps and an officer on the left of the picture cuts at his attackers as an unfortunate soldier is being killed on the ground near his horse.
