Sergeant Harry Langdon


Harry Langdon was born in Newport, Isle of Wight, in 1881. He served in India with the 10th Hussars, becoming proficient at billiards and polo. He was a trained signaller and became the regimental signals instructor. He also served with the regiment in South Africa and travelled to Belgium when WW1 broke out. On 11 April 1917 the 10th Hussars came under heavy shelling at Monchy le Preux. 27 men were killed and 157 wounded. Sergeant Harry Langdon was one of the killed.
